Monday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the match in the Icelandic top flight, and I like the possibility of goals.

Valur will look to move within three points off league leaders Víkingur as they travel to Garðabær to take on 9th-placed Stjarnan in a fixture that has the potential to be a high-scorer.
Stjarnan have scored 24 goals across their opening 13 league matches, with 20 (83%) of them coming in front of their supporters. Jökull Elísabetarson’s hosts have found the back of the net in five of their previous six league outings on home soil – striking at least twice in five (83%) of them – and will look to trouble a Valur defence that’s registered just three clean sheets on their travels this season.
Valur are the leading scorers in the Icelandic top fight this campaign, scoring 37 goals across their opening 14 matches, with 24 (65%) of them coming on their travels. Arnar Grétarsson’s visitors have only failed to score against 3rd-placed Breiðablik on the road this term – incredibly scoring three or more goals in six (86%) of them – and will be confident of adding to their tally against a Stjarnan defence that’s registered just three clean sheets this season, shipping multiple goals in seven (54%) of them.

Over 3.5 Goals has banked in 5/7 (71%) of Valur’s Besta deild karla fixtures on their travels this season – and given the same has landed in five of Stjarnan’s last six on home soil – I’m happy to have a little punt on their to be a minimum of four goals for the second meeting between these two clubs in the league this season.
