Al Ahly’s Tactician, Mossimane is unmoved with victory over Esperance ahead of second leg.

All time record winners of the CAF Championships League (9), Al Ahly needed a second half strike from Mohammed Sheriff to down the Tunisian giants Esperence sportive de Tunis away to Tunis to carry a 1-0 advantage ahead of the second leg in Cairo.

Despite a huge away victory recorded by the Red devils over Esperence, their head coach Pitso Mossimane is unmoved with the results and believes this is not yet done.

The South African born Coach is looking for his 3rd title as a coach and 2nd with Al Ahly.

“Our players were able to deal well with the game. They gave everything they had and therefore we were able to achieve a positive result,” Mossimane told Al Ahly’s website.

However, I made sure to tell the players that we have still not qualified yet to the final. Al Ahly and Esperance have a long history of games which prove that winning the first leg doesn’t mean that you’ll qualify to the final.

“We still have a game to play in Cairo and that is what captain Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly’s president, said to the players after the game. Moreover, we respect Esperance and their head coach, as they are a big team in Africa,” he explained

Al Ahly are the defending Champions and looking forward to win their 10th title and a draw in return leg will see them play in the finals against either Kaizer Chiefs or Wydad Casablanca.

Al Ahly will host the second leg on 26th June in Cairo.
