Uganda Cranes defeat 10 man Somalia to register first win in 2026 World cup Qualifiers.

Uganda Cranes laboured to beat 10 man Somalia team to register first victory on match day 2 of 2026 FIFA world Cup Qualifiers at Berkane Municipal stadium.

Rogers Mato scored as early 4th minute from close range to put Uganda Cranes ahead.

Uganda Cranes could have extended the lead but they failed to convert the chances created with the likes of Mutyaba Travis, Fahad Bayo and Rogers Mato.

Uganda Cranes came into this game at back of their defeat 2-1 to Guinea.

Before end of half time, Abdi Mohammad was shown matching orders and Somalia were reduced to 10 men.

Paul Put made three changes to the team that started against Guinea on Friday, Isma Watenga started ahead of Salim.

Elvis Bwomono was named at the right back as Kenneth Ssemakula was pushed into the midfield and hence Bobosi Byaruhanga and Milton Karisa dropping to the bench for Allan Oyirwoth who was making his senior national debut.

Uganda Cranes will return into action in June 2024 when they take on Botswana and Algeria and both games being at home.
