WAFCON: Morocco stun record holders to set Final with South Africa.

The Atlas Lioness of Morocco needed the penalty shoot outs against Total Energies Women African Cup of nations record holders (12), Nigeria to make it throgth to the finals.

The game had ended 1-1 after extra time, and Morocco scored all their five penalty takes as Super Falcons managed only four.

Yasmin Mrabat scored in her own net to give Nigeria a lead in 62nd minute before Sanaa Mssoudy leveling in 70th minute .

Morocco scored all five of their shootouts with Yasmin Katie Mrabet, Ghizlain Chebbak, Zineb Redouani, Nesryne El Chad and Rosella Annie Ayane getting on the scoresheet.

Experienced midfielder Rita Chikwelu scored the first kick for the Super Falcons and was followed by the miss by Onumonu.

Otu Obianang, Plumptre Ashleigh Megan and Gift Monday converted their kicks perfectly but it was not enough as the holders crashed out.

Morocco will face South Africa in the final on 23rd, July 2022 with both teams looking to clinch the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title for the first time.

South Africa laboured a 1-0 victory over Zambia after a stoppage time penalty was awarded.

Jermanine Seoposenwe was fouled inside the box and this needed a VAR intervention before it was given.

Linda Molhalo stood firm and put the ball at the back of tge net send South Africa to their second consecutive final and fifth in total.
