WAFCON: Morocco defeat Crested Cranes to dent chances of making out of group.

Uganda Crested Cranes starting team against Morocco.

Morocco handed Uganda Crested Cranes a 2nd loss in the ongoing 2022 TotalEnergies Women African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

After match day two of group A games, Senegal and Morocco jointly make through to the quarter finals, with picking two wins in their opening two games.

Rosella Ayane converted from a penalty to put Morocco in the lead as early as 14 minutes.

Sumaya Komuntale scored the leveler in 32′ for Crested Cranes from a well taken free kick to give the Ugandans more hope of getting back in the game.

Neysyrine El chad restored the host’s lead with a beautiful header that resulted from the freekick.

Chizunae Chebbak converted the secod penalty of the day to make it 3-1 for Morocco, after Uganda’ scorer Sumaya Komuntale making a foul inside the box that resulted into a 2nd yellow card hence shown matching orders and fininished the game with one woman less.

George Lutalo made four changes starting team that started the opening game of group against Senegal.

Yudaya Nakayenze and Aisha Natongo paved way for Phiona Nabumba and Margret Namirimu at the center back.

Nabwete Sandra started in for Hassifa Nassuna who was ruled out due to sickness and Fazilah Ikwaput started a head of Violah Nambi who dropped to the bench.

Uganda Crested Cranes will play their next and last group game against Burkinafaso on Thursday – 8th July 2022.
