SC Villa’s head coach Jackson Magera will be on a hunt in January 2023 as he intends to use the mid-season transfer window to beef up his squad.
The 16-time Uganda Premier League have had a relatively good run in the first round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, but will want to even look better in the second round.
“We thank God who has brought us this far, we intend to do some business in January,” Magera told Ndibba before adding.
“The team is still shaping up but I think we have positions that are still lacking. If those positions get the right additions then I think we shall be a better side to match our ambitions,” he added.
During the first round, Villa registered eight wins, two draws and three losses in the 14 games played.
However, they have 24 points since the two were docked for their fans’ hooliganism.
“I must say, I am proud of the boys for the great work done. But I believe they can still do better if they believe in themselves and decide to work harder.”
“At the start of the season, many underestimated them. But I kept reminding them that that only leaves them with an assignment to prove themselves.”
“I am happy that some have played well and some are still growing in the game,” Magera stressed.
The former KCCA gaffer highlighted Patrick Jonah Kakande as one that many players should learn from when it comes to self-belief.
“I have a special love for young talents and Kakanda has made me proud. Other players should pick a leaf from him. He is so confident and always tries to express himself.”
“He only needs to keep focused and yearn to learn more. Otherwise, his future is so bright and many have already started asking about him.”
The Jogoo are fifth on the 15-teamed log. They will return to action on Saturday February 11, 2023 as they visit Gaddafi FC.
