Video: Shadir Musa Knocks Out Magumba In First Round

Olympian Shadir Musa Bwogi lived to the billing with a knockout win over Ivan Magumba to win the Super Welterweight title.

Bwogi delivered a knockout inside the first round at Indoor Arena Lugogo late in Saturday night.

Bwogi was dominant right from the start and delivered a master class to win his third pro fight.

“I think I have managed to deliver what I promised, I have a lot of words but sometimes I don’t air them out because I have the ability to use actions instead,” said Bwogi after the win.

“This is just the beginning, I thank my Fans. I want to raise this Country’s flag high and bring what hasn’t been achieved before for my nation.

“I know I am better than every boxer here in the country, but this time round, I trained and that’s why you saw a different version of me.”

Bwogi who earlier beat Herbert Mugalula and Henry Kasujja, said that he wants to go for the African title (ABU).

His strong left sent Magumba down to the canvas, but the Police boxer survived the Referee’s count to get back to his two legs.

But Bwogi sensed his chance, and when the referee ordered for a restart, he attacked his prey like a lion out of cage.

And a quick combination of punches sent a helpless Magumba reeling in the floor.

As Bwogi erupted into celebrations, a beaten Magumba was wobbling at the other end as he tried to get up.

Magumba’s attempt to get up saw him just roll on the floor instead, and failed to get support from the ropes.

The fans ambushed a jubilant Bwogi to join the wild celebrations as the DJ played a Bobi Wine song.

Magumba blamed his recent sickness for the loss and asked for a rematch.

In other fights, Mercy Acayo beat Sandra Attermo in a Women National Title (Super Fly weight) after 10 rounds.

John Sserunjogi beat DR Congo’s Cisse Muhindo, Moses Mukiibi beat Ryan Lawrence, Nasser Bukenya won by a knockout, Conrad Sseruyange and Rogers Ssenyondo were the other winners.

There were also two kickboxing fights on the night, Bamweyana Kawagga could not continue in his fight against Isaac Olanya (South Sudan) and the fight was recorded as a technical draw.

Musisi ‘Breaker Breaker’ beat Malawi’s Rajab Fahad.
