UPL: Wakiso Giants squander a 2 – goal lead advantage to lose to SC Villa.

Wakiso Giants has squandered a two goal lead advantage to lose SC Villa on match day 27 of 2023/24 Uganda Premier League game played at Mutessa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

SC Villa by beating Wakiso Giants, meant that they completed their double over Wakiso Giants this season.

In 24th minute, Kenneth Kimera missed a golden opportunity to put guest team ahead after his low shot went inches away from goal post, after goalkeeper Wakorach had been beaten on ground.

With five minutes left on clock to end first half, Andrew Kigozi tried his long shot just outside the box area that beat Wakorach to get the ball into back of the net to fire Wakiso Giants into lead.

Sam Ssenyonjo doubled lead for Wakiso Giants FC in 51st minute thanks to Sharif Kimbowa assist.

Ronald Ssekiganda reduced the deficit to make it 1-2 for SC Villa in 65th minute with a Powerful header, thanks to Gavin Kizito wonderful cross.

Umar Lutaro brought the game back at level in 80th minute after converting a penalty kick that was awarded of Patrick Kakande’s on foul inside forbidden territory.

Reagan Mpande scored in 84th minute to put SC Villa in lead for the first time in the game and his goal proved to be the winner at the end of the game.

SC Villa recovering from KCCA FC scare last week were they lost 2-0 at newly renovated National stadium, Mandela to dent their chances of winning thia years championship.

The 16 times league record Champions ascend to 3rd position with 48 points.
