UPL: Two penalties awarded as 10 man Express FC settle for a draw with Onduparaka.

Onduparaka FC 1 – 1 Express FC.

Onduparaka FC had to rally from a goal down to settle for a draw with Express FC who finished off the game with one player less at Green light stadium in Uganda Premier League 2020/21 season, which continued with match day one.

Onduparaka FC who started the game with only two substitutes on their bench got the first opening clear cut chance to get the lead as their star man Livingston Kabong’s free kick near the edge of the box was saved into the corner kick by Mathias Muwanga in 7th minute.

On course of the counter attack, Eric Kambale released Frank Kalanda into open space and carried the ball into the box area and was eventually was falled into the box and referee Rajab Kasambe made no mistake to point for a penalty kick, which Kalanda stood firmly to convert it in 9th minute to hand Bossa’s coached sude a deserved lead.

Onduparaka could have got the leveler in 17′ but their effort from a resultant free kick was cleared off the line by hard tackling center back Murushid Juuko.

Bossa was forced to make a quick substitution as early as 22′, injured Ibrahim Kayiwa paved way Charles Musige.

With 5 minutes left on clock to end first half, Kabong rounded Mathias but his shot went over the bar.

Before kick of second half, goal scorer Frank Kalanda was substituted for George Senkaba.

After piling more attacks by hosts (Onduparaka, in 67th resulted into a free kick at the edge of the box when Eric Kambale tackled Kabon.

Kabon’s resultant free kick was handled by Express FC captain, Enock Walusimbi who denied the scoring chance and was shown matching orders and Bossa’s charges were reduced to 10 men and Rajab awarded a penalty for Onduparaka.

When Kabong stood up to take the penalty, sent Mathias on a wrong side to level (1-1) the game in 68th minute.

Bossa made the 3rd and 4th substitution, Isa Lumu came in for Erick Kambale and Ivan Mubuya paved for John Byamukama.

Godfrey Lwesibawa could have got the winning goal for ExpressFc but his volley was denied by Augustine Opoka in 78th.

Vialli Bainomugisha made his first substitutions as Jamal Marish came in for debutant Moses Okot in 76′ and goal keeper Micheal Kagiri came in for Allan Busobozi in 79′.

Rajab Kasambya blew the final whistle as the two sides settled for the 3rd draw in their encounter.

From the previous six meeting between these two teams, Onduparaka FC had managed 3 wins and Express FC only one win and rest ending in draw.

Like last season when Express picked their only victory against caterpillars they finished off the game with one man less when Lawrence Kigonya was shown matching orders.
