UPL: SC Villa ease past NEC FC to record first Victory of the season.

Sports Club Villa has defeated Newly Promoted NEC FC to record their first Victory of the season at Mutesa II stadium on match day three of Uganda Premier League 2023/24 season.

Umar Lutaro, John Paul Ocire (own goal) and Anorld Odong scored for SC Villa before climax of half time.

Dusan Stanojovic made some changes to the team that drew (1-1) away with Maroons, Umar Lutaro was named in a more of advanced position, Juma Ramathan was partnered with Anorld Odong in central defence forcing captain Kenneth Ssemakula to play at the right back and Gavin Kizito playing at a rare left back as Rogers Kiwanuka together with Bogole were leading the line for Joogo’s.

SC Villa got an early scarrely after two of their players were forced out, Ramathan and Rogers Kiwanuka after sustaining serious injuries in space of three minutes.

Umar Lutaro paid off his trust by Dusan as he opened the score for SC Villa as his low shot beat Kirya after enter play with Kiwanuka to give the team lead in 10th minute.

Rashid Okacha could have pulled the leveler for visiting team but his long short was saved by Norman.

Three minutes to half time, Substitute Patrick Jonah Kakande had a good run on the left wing and his effort, made John Paul Ocire to score in his own net.

Anorld Odong sealed half time lead with a super header after Kirya failed to calculate a long cross from corner kick to make it 3-0, scoring his second for the club since making the debut.

Into second half both sides tried to creat a lot of chances but all failing to convert them.

Ivan Bogere twice failed to connect with ball to put at back of net after Peter Onzima’s hard efforts.

Kakande could have extended the lead but his effort was blocked in process in 70th minute.

SC Villa has managed four points from their opening three games.

Meanwhile, NEC FC lose their first game of the season after winning their first two games.
