SC Villa beat Gadaffi Modern FC (2-0) at Mutesa II stadium to kickoff of the 2022/23 new season on a positive note.
A first half header from captain Fred Gift and second stanza own goal from Andrew Waiswa gifted the less experienced Jogoo side a well deserved victory.
Johnson and Mahad Yaya each hit post in the second half.
Six of Gadaffi Mordern players who started the game (Bakaki, Serunkuma, Kiyemba, KasoI, Kitata, Mahad) are ex-villa players including Coach Wasswa Bbosa.
On Villa side, only four(4) players who played for the club last season started and these included; Fred Agandu, Fred Gift, Joseph Kafumbe, Davis Sekajja.
SC Villa club President, Hajji Omar Mandela watched the game from the stands together with his Executive Committee members.
Villa will travel to play Ondupraka FC for their next game on Friday at Boombo Barracks ground.
