entrants, Kitara FC edge record holders SC Villa on the opening day of the 2023/24 season in a well attended game at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
Dennis Omedi scored in 15th minute of the game to give the vistors a lead after tapping in Brian Ahebwa’s brushed ball.
Ahebwa could have doubled the lead for Kitara in 25th minute after getting a through ball but his effort which had beaten advancing Norman went few inches from the lower left post.
As the game was destined for end of half time, Elvis Ngondwe did the donkey work in build to the equalizer with beating three defenders before his cross had a deflection to hit post and ball found well positionws Charles Lwanga to tap in, to make it 1-1 in 45th minute.
Few minutes later David Owori failed to barrel Peter Onzima’s weighed cross from close range and first half ended 1-1.
SC Villa looked a better side in the second half and could have gone ahead at one point but the forwards lacked sharpness.
As agame was seeming to end in the draw, the SC Villa deffenders lacked calmness and composure as they failed to clear the ball that found advancing Livingston Kobon to put ball at the back of the net to make 1-2 in 90+5 minute.
Kitara FC ascend to the top of the table tied on points with Bul FC but have a better goal difference.
