The two most decorated clubs in Uganda Premier League, SC Villa and Express FC renew their old rivalry today, 14th April 2021 at Boombo Barracks ground in a match day 17 league fixture.
Express FC will make short trip to Boombo Barracks ground to ensure that they complete double over the Joogo side, a thing they last did in 2013/14 season.
The red Eagles won the first leg which was played at Mutesa II stadium on match day 5 and thanks to George Ssenkaba’s lone strike that gave Express FC all the three points.
SC Villa will bank on an impressive (0-3) win over a FUFA Big league outfit, Ndejje University FC in a Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 encounter that saw them overturning the first leg defeat (1-0) to progress to next round.
In the last league game, Villa beat struggling MYDA FC to register their 8th league victory this season.
Express FC needed a Frank Kalanda’s penalty to eject Kyetume FC in the Uganda Cup at round of 32.
And won their last league game against URA FC.
Express FC finds an uphill task on the ground (Boombo Barracks) they have not won a single game and neither scoring.
Seven points are separating the two sides, Express FC on 35 points sitting in 3rd position meanwhile are at 6th position with 28 points from 16 games played.
In the last 23 games played in between the two sides, Villa has managed 9 wins against Express FC’s 8 and 6 games have ended in draws.
Left back Derrick Ndahiro is expected to pass the latest fitness after missing the previous Uganda Cup game against Ndejje University.
Meanwhile Ronald Sekiganda is returning back after serving his suspension for accumulating a lot of Yellow cards.
Holding midfielder Amir Kakomo and goalie Meddie Kibirige are out of this fixture on suspension after accumulating many yellow cards.
Coach Wasswa Bossa will be without his key center back, Murushid Juuko who is on suspension on red card.

“Since we have 3 key games in the coming 7 days, how we manage the players’ physical wellbeing is very crucial. And for that reason, after our Uganda Cup game, we did full recovery training yesterday and today we did some practical work. Kaziba told the club website.
“The players are in a very good mood. The Uganda Cup win uplifted each one’s morale and we are ready for tomorrow’s game both physically and mentally.
“Tomorrow’s game is a Derby, and everyone on my team both the players and coaches know how momentous it is to win it. Given that we lost in the first round, tomorrow gives us an opportunity to pay them back in the same currency.
“Derbies are for winning: We come into tomorrow’s derby to win.”
