Uganda’s middle distance runner Ronald Musagala finished fourth in 1500m on Sunday at the fifth meeting of the Wanda Diamond League at the Bauhau-Galan in Stockholm.
He powered home at a time of 3:33.99, his seasonal best.
World champion Timothy Cheruiyot (Kenya) defended his crown with a time of 3:32.30.
Ignacio Fontes of Spain was second in a PB of 3:33.27 while World Junior Record Holder Ronald Kwemoi (Kenya) was third in 3:33.53.
The race was three days since Musagala set the National mile record at the Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway at the fourth meeting of the Diamond League.
In Stockholm on Sunday, his time of 3:33.99 was below his personal best of 3:30.58, which is still the National record he set in Monaco 2019. He repeated the same time months later in Paris.
Musagala will be targeting a podium finish in the 1500m finals come the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.
