The 16th edition of Total Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations Championships draws for the final tournament were conducted today 25th January 2021 at Hilton Hotel in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The final tournament will take place between 14th February to 4th March.
Uganda Hippos, the Under 20 national football team which is among seven (7) countries making their debut at the CAF organized biennial tournament is drawn against the host nation, Mauritania along side 1995 Champions Cameroon and another debutant Mozambique in group A.
Burkina Faso pooled in group B together with Tunisia, Namibia and Central African Republic.
In group C, consists of 3 times Champions Ghana, alongside Tanzania, Gambia and Morocco.
Mauritania will kickoff the tournament with Cameroon as Uganda take on Mozambique on opening day.
For the first time this years tourney Championship will be contested by 12 countries instead of 8.
Defending Champions, Mali will not get chance to defend their title they won in 2018 since thry failed to qualify for the final tournament.
Morley Byekwaso the Uganda Hippos head coach, last week summoned a 38 man squad which started the training on Thursday at Omondi stadium.
Uganda defeated Tanzania to win the Cecafa U20 Championships to win the regional qualifiers as both finalists gained ticket to play in the final tournament.
