Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has made the re – appointment of experienced Danish coach, Kim Poulsen as their next Head Coach for the Tanzania National Football team (Taifar Stars) for a period of 3 three years.
Poulsen replaces Burundian tactician Etienne Ndayiragije who was relieved off the duties after poor run of results.
The 61 year old coach has been the manager of Danish club, FC Sonderborg and his contract was still on untill June 2021.
Poulsen has previously coached the Tanzania U21 team in 2011 before being promoted to handle the senior national team the following year till 2014.
In 2016, he was again given other responsibilities to be head of national team football development in the country.
He has coached the U19 and U23 Singapore football national teams before.
Poulsen’s immediate task is to guide Tanzania back to the 2022 Total Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon with two games left in group stage qualifiers.
Tanzania is in group J of the Afcon qualifiers, placed in 3rd position with 4 points and 2 points below the 2nd placed Equatorial Guinea and 6 points adrift group leaders Tunisia.
Libya is at the bottom of the group standings with 3 points, Tanzania need to win their last two remaining games to stand a chance making back to Afcon after 2019 Afcon.
Tanzania will play Equatorial Guinea on 22nd March 2021 away and host Libya on 30th March 2021.
