Stanbic Uganda Cup: Vipers’ Bianchi fired up ahead of debut

Ahead of his debut with Vipers SC against Kitara Region side Bujumbura United in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, head coach Beto Bianchi Pellister is a man engrossed in confidence.

The Brazilian, who also boasts of Spanish roots, will have his side enter the Cup fray against the lowly side at Kibajwa Primary School grounds on Tuesday.

“We have had a good week of training, we trained well and we trained on a very aggressive level in the last couple of days,” said the tactician while speaking to the club media.

“Now, it’s up to us to play as we trained in the last couple of days,” the rather optimistic gaffer added.

The coach succeeded compatriot Roberto Oliveira who won the Cup in 2021, as the latter joined Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC.

Bianchi is however taking his time building his philosophy, yet he feels the team is taking steps in the right direction.

“It’s not been long with the boys (three weeks) but l believe I have prepared them enough to try and adapt to my philosophy.”

“The philosophy may not be instant but we shall try to give our best in tomorrow’s match. The players that came back from the national team have tried to fit in well though some will miss this encounter through injuries and fatigue.”

A spot in the Round of 32 awaits tomorrow’s victors, with no return leg at this stage. A stalemate after 90 minutes will push the tie straight to penalties.

It’s also of strong importance to note that Bujumbura top proceedings in the Kitara Regional League with 19 points in eight games.

There will be two more games on Tuesday as FUFA Big League outfits Jinja North FC and Calvary FC visit Eastern Region sides Busei FC and Budondo United FC respectively.
