Shaban Mohammad reveals why he left Raja Casablanca.

The former KCCA FC and Vipers SC striker, Shaban Mohammad while conducting an interview with the FUFA media did reveal the major reason he had to leave Raja Casablanca of Morocco in 2019.

The 24 year old joined Raja Casablanca in 2018 from KCCA FC on 3 three year contract having failed trials at Orlando Pirates of South Africa.

While with Raja Casablanca, he made only 7 appearance and only managing one goal to his name before parting ways.

‘Jagson’ as fondly referred said injuries he sustained was big blow to his spell with Raja and this prompted to ask for a release to come back to Uganda.

“There were challenges. What affected me mostly in Morocco was the injury and that is the major reason I had to come back to Uganda to rebuild myself so that I can go elsewhere. I joined Vipers SC when I was still injured then they took me to surgery. I was not feeling fine but you know Vipers SC is a big club that comes with pressure of winning trophies. They could not wait. I had to talk to the club chairman and the club President to release me so that I can go and start afresh. I went home and the people in Arua were also waiting for me to go back to reunite for a new start to work together again. I embraced the return, and started scoring though at first things did not work out well according to plan but I knew I would improve.’

Shaban scored 15 goals for his boyhood club (Ondupraka) last season and 3 behind Cesar Manzoki who was leading scorer, and he says if any chance of going to play professional football again he now knows what to do because he has matured now.

“I am a changed man because when I went to Morocco I had not yet matured, but at least now I am a different Shaban. I have learnt a lot, so any deal which comes through, I will make sure that I do not repeat the mistakes. You know those deals come with a lot of challenges; you become home sick, new food, different weather, but I was not patient enough. The injury frustrated me even though the team wanted me to stay but I had to request for my release to come back home and rebuild myself.’ he added .

Shaban Mohammad is currently training with Ugandacranes team which is camping in Tunisia ahead of 2023 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers game against Algeria.
