Thirteen time Uganda Premier League champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) have agreed with Sarjan Development Uganda Restricted to give the MTN Omondi Arena a facelift.

Ndibba can affirm that the agreement between the two parties was marked and work at the Lugogo based facility should initiate at any point in the near future.

It should be noticed that Government endorsed UGX10B for the development of the arena that fulfills global guidelines and UGX1.5B will be delivered each monetary year.

The development of the 800-9000 seater should have began in October 2020 however that was slowed down by the Covid pandemic yet additionally the endorsement of the administrative work had slowed down.

“We intend to construct the stadium in two phases,” project manager Eng. Dr. James Ssemuwemba told New Vision on 20th August 2020.

The Engineer also noted that the stadium will meet international standards with the VIP wing in phase-one estimate to take 15-18 months before its completion, and will have about 3,600 seats.

“And phase one is going to entail construction of the VIP wing which will consist of so many facilities including dressing rooms (100sq meters each) for the home and visiting teams, which should offer enough space for the teams.”

“Each dressing room will be fully equipped and self-contained with bathroom and toilet facilities; so it should be a state of the art like in all major stadia around the world,” Ssemuwemba added.

While speaking to the government newspaper Ssemuwemba gave a hit on how the VIP wing will look like.

“The roof will be made of high tensile steel sections and roofed to international standards, so we intend to engage a world-class contractor to undertake this construction.”

“In addition to the seats, we shall have a total of 95 toilet facilities around the stadium under phase-one only, so there will be no lining up to access these facilities,” he added.

According to the artistic impression the club has been throwing around on their social media pages, the facility will also harbour space for a shopping area.

Here, club merchandise will be sold, but the area will also accommodate restaurants and media facilities on the four levels of the VIP stand.
