Today of 22nd July 2021 marks exactly two years since KCCA Football Club won their 2nd regional body organized club tournament, CECAFA club Championship in club history.
The CECAFA club Championships tournament was held in Rwanda from 7th to 22nd in the month of July 2020.
KCCA FC which was being coached by Mike Mutebi beat Tanzania’s Azam FC (1-0) in the finals, thanks to Mustafa Kizza’s lone strike.
ROAD TO THE FINAL.
KCCA FC was pooled in group B together with Azam FC (Tanzania), Mukura (Rwanda) and Bandari FC (Kenya) but managed to top it with 7 points as Azam came in second position as two clubs went through the group to the last eight (8).
KCCA FC was paired with Rayon Sport of Rwanda in the quarter finals and squeezed a 2-1 victory over them, Mustafa Kizza and Nunda Jackson scored for Kasasiro boys.
In the semi finals, KCCA faced a stubborn Green Eagles of Zambia which was a guest club to the tournament. The game was played for 120 minutes which involved in extra time and KCCA overcame the tie on 4-3 score to make it through to the final.
Young stars Okello Allan, Mike Mutyaba and Anaku were on target for KCCA FC.
KCCA FC faced Azam FC for second time in the tournament, this time round in the final, after their group fixture ending in a 1-all draw.
Mustafa Kizza’s 60th minute strike was the only goal that made the difference in the final as KCCA FC won their second title after 41 years.
Among a 20 man squad players that played in that tournament, only 8 players are still with club with just 24 months down the road after their triumph.
Players whoare not with the club have got juicy deals elsewhere , others are free agents and some retired.
Allan Okello moved to Paradou AC of Algeria.
Kizza Mustafa and Serwada Steven are contracted with United States Major soccer league clubs Montreal and New York RedBull respectively.
Nunda Jackson moved to URA FC as Muzamir Mutyaba switched to Uganda Premier League reigning Champions Express FC.
Kasozi Nicolas moved to newly relegated Kyetume FC.
Tom Ikara a goalkeeper now plays for Police FC as midfielder Lawrence Bukenya signed for Wakiso Giants FC.
Meanwhile goalkeeper Malyamungu Jamal, Filbert Obenchan and Sadam Juma are free agents after their contracts got expired.
Mike Mutyaba retired from football both for the country and club.

Mike Hillary Mutebi who was the manager was as well replaced by Morley Byekwaso who happened to be his second in command.
It remains SC Villa (1987, 2003, 2005), Police FC (2005) and KCCA FC (1978, 2019) as only Ugandan clubs who have ever won CECAFA Club Championship title.
Express FC will represent in this year’s edition.
