Versatile defender, Okocha Rashid who has put pen to paper for contract extension with West Nile based club, Onduparaka, has opened up why he did so.
Okocha who arrived at Onduparaka FC in 2017 as winger, eventually turned into a left back has extended his contract untill 2022.
Okocha confesses that before extending his contract he had many offers from other clubs and it has been a hard decision to make but the love for the club and love from the fans prompted him to continue playing for the caterpillars.
“I did this to pay back the fans who have trusted me over these years; they have supported me on and off the pitch and I feel I can still do much more for them as a Caterpillar. I am also impressed with the new system the club is trying to adopt and I am really hoping that all this isn’t in vain.” smiling Okocha quoted by club website.
“It was a hard decision for me to make, obviously I had offers from different clubs, at one point I had even made up my mind to extend and I contacted the CEO but then another offer came on board and I had to re-think (laughs). But in the end, my decision came down to weighing my love for this club, and the love of the fans for me, I think I would not get this kind of love elsewhere if I left right now.”
Last season Okocha played a tune of 20 league games for Onduparaka FC and appearing on score sheet once against Busoga United. And he named the best left back in the second edition of FUFA the Drum tournament.
He joined Onduparaka FC from Nebi Central in 2017.
