Rams Relegated from Rugby Premier League

With one game left to play, Rams’ disappointing season has come to a bitter but expected end as their relegation from the Nile Special Rugby Premier League has been confirmed.

The Makerere side have faced a difficult and exigent campaign with no wins to their name.

The writing was on the wall for Richard Lumu’s side heading into the final two fixtures of the season.

With their fate hanging in the balance, the team needed to win their game week 17 fixture with maximum points (5) in order to keep alive their hopes of staying in the league and going into the final game against Heathens.

Unfortunately for them, they were unable to get the job done. Their 18-8 loss to Buffaloes at Kyadondo meant that any hopes laid on paper for them earlier, would come to a disastrous end as the side now has no logical way whatsoever of covering up the 10 points difference between them and ninth placed Rhinos in just one game.

The season witnessed some flashes of brilliance from star players such as Hosanna Opileni, Hashim Kabogoza, and Michael Kalyango, but even then, Lumu’s lads have been unable to string together enough points to stay in the top league.
