Pirates Ease Past Walukuba To Keep Pressure on KOBs

In a crucial match to keep themselves afloat of the title contest, Pirates produced a scintillating performance to defeat Walukuba 55-03 at Kings Park in game week 17.

The result keeps them level on points with KOBs at the top of the table with 75 points each, but KOBs still lead the table due to their superior points difference.

Pirates went into the game requiring nothing less of a victory to keep them at a non-arm’s length with KOBs, and they wasted no time asserting their dominance.

They took control of the game from the outset, with their attacking play causing all sorts of problems for the Walukuba defence.

The Sea Robbers scored an impressive nine tries in the game, with Ivan Kabagambe coming off with a hattrick, Arnold Atukunda and Alex Aturinda scoring a brace each, while Nathan Bwambale and Daniel Nshimiyana both scored once.

The win means that Pirates have kept themselves as close to KOBs as possible going into the final game of the season.

They will face off against KOBs in a winner-takes-all encounter, with the winner being crowned 2023 Nile Special Rugby League champions. .

KOBs, for their part, also secured a resounding win in their fixture, scoring nine tries to defeat Impis 57-10 to stay top of the table.
