On 1st August 2020, Federation of Uganda Football Association hold a consultative meeting with the Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big league Clubs captains representatives.
The meeting was chaired by Eng: Moses Magogo the FUFA President and a lot of issues were tackled which included players having intermediaries, NSSF, player branding and New FUFA proposed reforms
While making his Submission, Vipers Sports Club Forward Paul Mucurezip, who represented the Club, acknowledged the importance of having a player intermediary while signing the contract.
“It is an eye opener to us, many of the players have a bad perception about Football agents but today, we have got to learn the importance of the intermediaries because not many of us fully understand the details of contract.” Paul Muccurezi made his submission as quoted by FUFA website.
During the meeting, FUFA president Eng: Moses Magago did reveal that th e central goverment has written to them asking the players to be deducted National Social Security Funds (NSSF) and Pay as you earn tax off their salaries which could help them after retirement.
And this was welcomed by Charles Lukwago and Jimmy Kulaba who represented KCCA FC and BUL FC respectively.
“Saving with NSSF helps us a lot because you are guaranteed of something after retirement. At KCCA FC we have this arrangement and its important for now it spreads across the entire league.” Said Charles Lukwago.
“Personally, I have been lucky to play for clubs like BUF FC, URA FC and Police FC that have saving arrangement. Definitely saving so that we we don’t suffer after retirement.” added Jimmy Kulaba.
