•City Oilers Vs Ndejje University, 8:30pm
City Oilers have South Sudanese forward cum guard Michael Ngut back when the side takes on Ndejje University Angels at Lugogo in the National Basketball League.
The League returns since taking a break on July 26 when FUBA thought it wise to give full attention to the Gazelles adventure at the Afrobasket in Kigali, Rwanda.
Ngut last played for City Oilers in the first round, specifically in the 57-51 win over Nam Blazers on April 14.
He went back to home country South Sudan to ‘sort family issues.’
In his nine games this season, he averaged 13 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists, starting on just five occasions.
And his availability hands City Oilers more options especially after the departure of Shooting Guard Luak Ruai to Georgia.
Germaine Roebuck Junior who was initially listed on the Oilers roster this season, was unveiled by Rwanda’s Patriots which confirmed his unavailability for the Ugandan side he represented at BAL.
Whether Oilers needed him, remains an easy question to answer given the eight-time champions are still unbeaten in their 17 games this season so far.
Titus Lual, Fayed Bbaale and Jimmy Enabu are also averaging double digits in scoring, and the same can be said with the former on rebounding.
James Okello and Tonny Drilleba are the other key members of the team that has more options through Moses Maker, Ivan Muhwezi, Ben Komakech, Allawi Ssenkubuge, Caesar Kizito and Edrine Walujjo among others from the bench.
The Oilers beat Ndejje 79-57 in the first round and will be out-right favorites to seal a double, something they did last season winning 90-83 and 78-48.
Ndejje on the other hand, have blown hot and cold this campaign but had won two in a row – JKL (74-72) and UCU Canons (89-82) – when the league took a break.
They sit second from the bottom with five wins in their 15 games, and beating Oilers may be a big ask but coach John Omondi will urge them to stay locked in the game at least until the final buzzer.
