Tanzania Vodacom Premier League side Mbeya City Football Club have appointed Ugandan Matia Lule as their new head coach.
This is Lule’s second stint in Tanzania having previously worked for Stand United Football Club in 2014.
The former Uganda Cranes assistant coach is tasked to rejuvenate Mbeya City’s season who currently sit 13th with 11 points on the table of 18 teams.
As a player, Lule featured for State House FC, Iganga FC and URA FC among others. As a coach, he has worked with Entebbe FC, KCCA FC, URA FC on the role of assistant head coach, Express FC and lately Proline FC.
He served as the head coach for the U-17 national team (The Cubs), the U-23 (Kobs) as well as an assistant to Sebastian Desabre at the senior team The Uganda Cranes.
Mbeya City Football Club was established in 2011 in Mbeya City which is in the Southern Highlands of South West Tanzania.
William Otong and Tito Okello are former Ugandan players who have previously featured for Mbeya City in the past.
Lule’s immediate task will be on Saturday 5th December when Mbeya City take on Coastal Union.
The Tanzanian Vodacom Premier League is also home to Ugandan players who include; Nicholas Wadada (Azam FC), Jackson Kibirige (Kagera Sugar), Boban Zirintusa (Mtibwa Sugar) and Biashara Mara United’s trio Joseph Zziwa, James Cleo Ssetuba and Ambrose Awio.
Defending champions Simba have also unveiled Uganda Cranes midfielder Taddeo Lwanga on a two year contract.
