Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club’s left back, Brian Majjwega has come out to speak about the last time Uganda Cranes Chan team faced ‘The Atlas Lion’ of Morocco during the 2014 Africa Nations Championships down in South Africa.

Uganda Cranes will play against Morocco in a do or die fixture tonight in group C last game in the ongoing 2021 Africa Nations Championships in Cameroon.

Uganda has found themselves in similar situation like in 2014 against the same opponent when they needed just a draw to progress to the quarter finals for the first time but it ended in Morocco’s favour as they came from goal down to win the game (3-1).

Abdessamad Raffik, Iajour Mouhssine and Abdelkbir El Quadi scored for the Atlas Lions while Yunus Sentamu netted Uganda’s consolation.

Brian Majjwega who was one of the key players that took part in that tournament, has used his Facebook page to reflect on that very game they played with Morocco.

“I remember facing Moroccans in the CHAN tournament in South Africa [2014]. We didn’t win that day but I guess our players can grab a win this time.” Said Majjwega.

He has counted on experience of Denis Iguma and Kyeyune Said since both players played in that game, of which other players can rely on to win this game.

“My Brothers Denis Iguma and Said Kyeyune featured in that fixture. They with rest players can give us a win we need today.

“Good luck.

Morocco is topping group C with four points after picking a win against debutant Togo and drawing with Rwanda in the second fixture.

Meanwhile, Uganda finds themselves at the bottom of the group with one point they earned while facing Rwanda before a 2-1 loss to Togo. But still stand a chance to make it to the quarter finals in case they win tonight’s game.

Rwanda will take on Togo in a simultaneously respective Cranes game, both games kickoff at 10:00 pm. Amavubi Stars also need not less than a win to guarantee themselves a ticket at the quarter finals.
