KIU Titans Seek To End First Round on High

Wednesday, May 24
•A1 Challenge Vs Nabisunsa, 6:30pm
•KIU Titans Vs JKL Dolphins, 8:30pm

KIU Titans will be hoping to finish the first round on a good note when they take on JKL Dolphins at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The Titans lost 68-69 against UCU Canons on May 12 in their previous league game and they will be seeking to return to winning ways.

That, was their second loss of the season, and their first since losing their league opener against City Oilers.

They had since staged an eight-game winning run prior to UCU Canons loss – Collins Kasujja and Amisi Saidi Danny did not play against the Mukono-based team.

Against UCU, they were on course for a ninth consecutive win when they led 60-49 after the third quarter.

But they collapsed in the fourth quarter which they lost 08-20 to lose the game by just a point.

KIU were out rebounded 53-65, and will need to be more aggressive below the post at both ends of the court if they are to cause JKL all sorts of problems.

JKL may not pose enough threat like UCU, given the quality at coach Julius Lutwama’s exposure including Joel Lukoji, Innocent Ochera, Isaiah Mabeny Ater, Peter Obleng, Joseph Chuma and Stanley Mugerwa among others.

And it’s strong to note that KIU beat JKL in both games of the regular season 61-53 and 84-56.

The Dolphins come into this encounter on the back of three straight defeats – They were beaten by UPDF 54-68 and had earlier lost to Rezlife Saints and Power.

JKL Dolphins have won three and lost seven games this season, with their last win coming against Ndejje University Angels (66-63) on April 26.
