Ugandan 10000 and 5000 long distance runner, Joshua Kiptegei 7th October, yet again set another world record in 10,000 meter race in an event organized NN Running Team, Valencia world record day in Tunia stadium (Spain).
The 24 year old used 26:1.00 clocking time to better Kenenisa Bekele’s world record of 26:17.53 which had stood for 15 years since setting it in 2005 in Brussels.
“[The world record] means something great to me,” Cheptegei told race organizers. “We are trying to write history because we want people to know that track is still exciting and we want to give it all.”
Cheptegei also broke world record in 5000 meter race in August this year 2020, setting best times, 12:35.36 in Monaco Diamond league.
Still in NN Running team event, ealier on Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey broke world record 5000m race setting up 14:6.62 time to better Tirunesh Dibaba’s 14:11.15 which she had set in 2008.
