Joshua Cheptegei breaks 16 year world record.

Ugandan Athlete, Joshua Cheptegei continues to raise Ugandan flag high and making Ugandans proud as he broke the 5000M world record in the Monaco Wanda Diamond League in France.

Cheptegei set a new time world record of 12:35.36, breaking a 12:37.35 time that has been in place since 2004 set by Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele.

This is Cheptegei’s second record that he has broken this year 2020 and the first one came in 5KM on roads as he set a new world record of 12:57 during Valencia.

Chegpptegei is 10km and 5km world Champion.

Kenyans Kimehi and Krop came second and third setting 12:510.78, 13:11.32 time respectively.
