Johnathan Mcknistry reveals why he chose Halid Lwaliwa as Cranes Chan team captain.

Northern Ireland born Coach Johnathan Mcknistry, who is Uganda Cranes head coach has revealed the reason why he Vipers SC’s captain to captain Uganda Cranes Chan team ahead of the final tournament in Cameroon which kick starts on 16th January and end on 7th February.

Uganda Cranes is in group C along side defending Champions Morocco, Rwanda and debutants Togo.

Halid Lwaliwa captained Uganda Cranes team which won the 2019 Cecafa Senior Championships which were held in Kampala.

Mcknistry says picking Halid head of over players, is because he served well last year and easily broke into senior team.

“As our Captain, he had served so well over the last year, including breaking into the Senior Cranes team.’ Mcknistry told fufa website.

‘He will be supported by a group of four or five senior players who will be asked to take on the mantle of working alongside Halid to provide a good atmosphere.‘ he added.

Halid Lwaliwa will be assisted by Tonny Mawejje as first vice captain and Mustafa Mujuzi as the Vice second captain.

Lwaliwa came of the ebench and scored the only goal as Uganda Cranes stopped the stubborn Bright stars of South Sudan during the Total African cup of Nations 2022 Qualifiers game of match day number 3.
