SC Villa’s new signing Meddie Kibirige made his eagerly awaited home introduction two days prior at the Bombo Military Grounds. It was an amazing pivot from his first appearance for The Jogoos in which he had conceded twice.

The 24 year old stop stopper came into the game against Mbarara City FC very much aware of what was in stake as the group required every one of its individual players to be on top of his all together for the team to make sure about greatest points in the main home round of the season.

“The team was hungry for the three points. Therefore prior to this game, we trained very hard leaving no stone unturned in order to be on top of our game come match day,” said Kibirige about the team’s preparations for match day two.

Kibirige thanked his teammates for the positive outcome of game. “I thank our coaches for the preparations they gave us. I also thank my teammates for working as team.” He continued, “There were a lot of challenges from our first game. We made a lot of mistakes which I am happy we corrected.”

About the centre back partner, Kibirige said, “Unlike the first game, the duo were so solid in this one and did not allow any goal threatening error to occur.” The Jogoos defense was up to the task on Wednesday evening given that they only allowed two shots on target to get to Kibirige and only in the first half. The defense blocked and cleared most of the opponents’ shots out of the danger area.

Out of this great work by the defense and Meddie Kibirige, the team managed a clean sheet, a moment Kibirige was very proud of. “I am very happy about my first clean sheet in a Villa jersey. With hard work and support from my teammates and the coaches, more clean sheets are coming,” a very happy Meddie Kibirige said at the end of the game.

The team continued intense training drills yesterday and today in order to prepare for the remaining three fixtures before the League goes for a Christmas break. With Keni out of match day squads and Kibirige being in this good form, he is expected to start in goal for The Jogoos in the remaining fixtures.
