Minister Ssekabembe Concerned Sports Sponsorship Will Fold Due to prolonged lockdown

The Buganda Kingdom minister for Youth, Sports, Leisure and Recreation, Owek. Henry Ssekabembe expressed his worry for sports industry if the government of Uganda doesn’t pay much attention on vaccinating citizens against Covid.

The Minister says that the endless locking down and lifting without a clear plan and solution to curb the pandemic in the country doesn’t take the nation anywhere apart from hurting its development.

The outspoken Ssekabembe said that the lockdown affects the sports industry and tempts the investors and sponsors in the sports industry to lose passion. He advised the government to concentrate much on vaccinating Ugandans.

“The government should concentrate much on vaccinating Ugandans because it’s the only way we can get back to normal.

If this is not done we are likely to lose sponsors who support various competitions in the country.”

“I believe through vaccination the country will return to normal just like it is with European countries, they even held European championship this very year with fans in stands.”
