Hearts of Oak win GPL 2020/21 season to end 11 years of Wait

Accra Hearts of Oak drew 1-1 with Liberty Professionals FC on match day 33 of Ghana Premier League in the game played at famous Accra Sports stadium to be crowned Champions of the 2020/21 season, ending a 11 year wait.

The Phobias were declared Champions after their archi rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC fall short against Bechem United in a 2-1 loss.

Samuel Boadu guided Hearts of Oak to their 21st title in history and first since 2008/09 season.

Hearts of Oak wins the league with one game to spare and 4 points separating them from second placed Asante Kotoko SC who are on 57 points from 33 games.

Serbian Kostas Papic was the last coach to win the league title for the Hearts of Oak and did play a part in this one, because he left the club in Midway of the season for Black Leopards job in South Africa.

The giants of Accra return to Continental Football and represent Ghana in CAF Champions League in the 2021/22 campaign.
