Uganda’s Football governing body FUFA for so long has been at logger heads with Ex Internationals including the previous regimes.

On Friday of 10 July the two parties convened at Ivy’s Hotel to shareout their grievances and look out the way forward how they can solve their problems.

Among the 47 ex internationals who attended the meeting which was chaired by the FUFA president Eng: Moses Magogo Hashim, A former Express FC and Uganda Cranes defender George Ssimwogere who has been the front liner to those who think Current FUFA has not done enough to help them, Expressing his disagreements through his writings with Bukedde luganda News paper.

Ssimwogere while issuing out his speech he urged FUFA to create opportunities for them as Retired footballers.

“This is my family, we all belong to football. I am happy that we are here to discuss football and our matters. These people played football for the country. The federation should create opportunities for Ex internationals,” George Ssimwogerere said during the meeting as quoted by FUFA.com

“There are many job opportunities within the federation that can be shared among the ex internationals let’s believe that there are always disagreements in family. But we have to minimise them and work together for the good of football.” He added.

Former SC Villa defender and now players’ intermediary, Dan Ntale preferred that these kinds of meeting should always be held regularly which as well was reiterated by the FUFA president.

“I would prefer we start having regular meetings for the sharing Ideas, playing football and start projects that can build us and the game,” Said Dan Ntale.

“We have come here as Individuals but not as an organised Association, we would need the federation to lobby for us to have an improved life.” He continued

FUFA president Magogo who presided over the meeting, commended the act of respect exhibited by Ex internationals while laying out their issues.

“This is not last meeting because we have not come to conclusion in this small period of time . we shall be gathering on several occasions to discuss issues regarding Ex internationals,” Said FUFA president.

“Thank you for respecting each other when raising issues. The federation is always open to receive concerns from football stakeholders”

“Life outside football is far different from football life, people can easily forget all about you when you retire most of you won’t be closer to the opportunities available. The relationship with Federation must be strong.” Moses Magogo Concluded
