Federation of Uganda Football Association – FUFA has named new Uganda Crested Cranes head coach and the technical team.
South African, Sheryl Botes has been named as Crested Cranes new head coach.
Botes has signed a three year contract with Football governing body in the country and she is coming with a lot of experience to with Women football, having coached Banyana Banyana (Senior Women South African team).
Upon unveiling ceremony at the Fufa Complex, the Fufa President, Moses Mogogo believes that Botes will do the work to the expectation.
FUFA has always been deliberate about Women’s Football and if you follow our progress since 2013, the growth is evident. We believe the current Crested Cranes team has the ability to compete at the highest level and bringing a coach with the experience of Botes is a commitment from us to take a big step forward.” said Moses Mogogo – Fufa President.
Apart from the senior women’s National team, Botes will also be monitoring the progress of both U17 and U20 Women’s National team.
I am honoured for the opportunity availed to me to lead the Crested Cranes. I’m here to work and help improve the standards of the Women’s National Team and I believe with my experience in the game, I would be able to excute my responsibility.” Said new Crested Cranes coach, Botes.
Crested Cranes coach Sheryl Botes comes with David Ribeiro (Goalkeeping Coach), Ashley De Beer (Sports Scientist) and Phuphu Mohlaba (Video Analyst).
The Technical Team will also have Ugandan officials who will be named at a later stage.
Sheryl Botes replaces coach Charles Ayieko who was appointed on interim basis.
