Uganda Police Football Club goal keeper Derrick Ochan was sent off in the 40th minute at St. Mary’s Stadium when they were the better side leading 2-1 at Half time when the assistant referee Juma Osire ruled that the Goal Keeper held the ball outside the box.

The FUFA Referees Disciplinary Panel rescinded the red card that was shown to the shot-stopper in the game against SC Vipers which ended in a 3-2 loss.

The Panel annulled the red card shown to Derrick Ochan due to the wrong call made by the Assistant Referee 2. However, according the camera footages, the goal keeper’s hands were still in the box and thus the referee got it wrong.

According the Official Statement released from the UPL Secretariat after a review has decided to overturn the red card:

The UPL secretariat is in receipt of a decision from the FUFA Referees Disciplinary Panel which reviewed the red card shown to Police FC player (Ochan Derrick) during M#57 Vipers SC Vs Police FC played on the 19th February 2021 at St. Mary’s Stadium- Kitende. The panel annulled the red card shown to Ochan Derick due to the wrong called made by the Assistant Referee 2.

Therefore, the Goalkeeper is eligible to play for Uganda Police Football Club against Bright Stars FC this Saturday at the Champions Stadium in the Uganda Premier league.

Though this decision can’t bring back the 3 points lost given that the keeper was sent off when Police FC were 2-1 up, Abdallah Mubiru’s side look to challenge for the league trophy.
