World football governing body, FIFA, today 24 June 2021 slapped a 12 months ban to former CAF interim President, Constant Omari Selemani from all football related activities.
According to FIFA, formal investigation proceedings were opened against Mr. Omari on January 7, 2021 regarding the benefits received from Lagardère Sports (for a total of EUR 64,444) in the context of the negotiations. that he was leading with this entity in connection with the marketing of certain television broadcasting rights attributed to the company LC2 and the recovery of unpaid debts.
Constant Omari resigned as President of Federation of Congolese Football Association (FECOFA) on 16th June 2021 and his suspension started on 18 June and set to end next year same date.
Constant Omari was the interim CAF President following the period when Ahmad Ahmad was asked to step a side by FIFA over his misconduct.
Omari is a former FIFA council member and Vice CAF President.
