East Africa T20: Cricket Cranes Champions

[ad_1]

The Cricket Cranes have retained the East Africa Trophy T20 Cup after nearly going unblemished at the competition that just concluded in Kigali, Rwanda.

Uganda played it’s final game this afternoon against Rwanda, and routinely won it by 8 wickets, but they clinched this trophy days ago.

Laurence Mahatlane’s team came into their final game with 20 points, that’s 12 more than Tanzania who are second. It was practically impossible for any team to dislodge the champions from the top.

Out of the 12 games they played, the Cricket Cranes won 11. Their only loss came on Match day two against Tanzania. After that loss, they went on a winning frenzy, winning 10 games in a row.

They retain the trophy they won last year. Added to the trophy, the Cricket Cranes also swept the individual awards.

Alpesh Ramjani beat teammates Kenneth Waiswa and Roger Mukasa to the MVP award.

Ramjani was also named the best bowler of the tournament having picked the most wickets (25). Waiswa came second with 20.

Cyrus Kakuru ended as the best wicket keeper with 14 dismissals to his name including 5 stampings.

In the batting section, Simon Sessazi finished second with 337 runs. Mukasa with 318 came fourth while Ramjani with 239 finished sixth.

The batting chart had six Ugandans in the top ten. Ronak Patel (234), Ronald Lutaya (209) and Waiswa (206) came 7th, 8th and 9th respectively.

For the bowling chart, Ramjani and Waiswa were joined by Bilal Hassun (11), Jonathan Ssebanja (10) and Henry Senyondo (9) in the top ten. The trio finished 7th, 9th and 10th respectively.
