For so long, Denis Masinde Onyango has been on top of his A game, both with the national team and his club Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.
The 35 year old goalkeeper has welcomed the new goalkeeper, Richardo Goss at the ‘Brazillians’ team and heaped praises on the 26 year old goal keeper. But has also warned him ahead of competition awaiting him in the team, that he has to work so hard for place on the PSL reigning Champions team.
Richardo Goss signed a three year employment contract with Mamelodi Sundowns from Bidvest Wits (defunct) as free agent with possible extension for more two years.
It will be hard for Goss to displace number one goalkeeper, Denis Onyango who has been the Masandawana first choice man between the goal posts, but due to Goos’ impressive performance with Bidvest Wits, could use it as springboard for him to deliver at Mamelodi Sundowns considering that the age is still on his side compared to Reyaaad who is about to clock 30, Mwene and Onyango both on 35

Goss joins the group of four goalkeepers at Sundowns fighting for a spot and that includes Veteran Zambian international Kennedy Mwene, Reyaad Pieterse and Abram Ramotlopi Ngcabo raising from the ranks.
“Goos coming into the tema is a good signing, looking at the his quality. He has done well for Wits and I believe he is one of the goalkeepers who has done fantastic work for them (wits) when in the bubble, he conceded few goals. He is welcome at the Sundowns. He is a young man with a lot of energy and he has got Bright future ahead of him,” Denis Onyango quoted by Citizen.ze.
“We have to support each other when he comes through. He has to fight to get into the team because it is a different environment for him. We were also once new in the club and we had people who helped us to stabilize and try and play for the club. It’s a new challenge for him and there is a little bit of difference between Sundowns and wits.” Onyango added.
“He has to work hard and get the team to the next level because that is the most important thing, it isn’t an individual thing, I believe he has the ability to do that and learn tow or three things from us and we are still also learning from him as we are getting old because learning never stops.” He continued.
“There is Jody February coming through, there is Abram from the development team and there is still Reyaaad, it’s going to be competitive but very good competition with the keepers and we hope every one will give his best.” He concluded.
Richardo Goss has previously played for Golden Arrows.
