Uganda Crested Cranes fall to Lioness of Senegal in their opening game of 2022 African Women African Cup of Nations in second match day of group A.
Diakite Ndeye broke the deadlock in 39th minute as she converted a penalty kick to put Senegal in to the lead.
Senegal doubled the lead through Nguenar Ndiaye in 50th minute after capitalising on Yudaya Nakayenze’s mistake.
Lutalo George made some changes into the second half, he introduced on Phiona Nabumba and Fazilah Ikwaput for Hassifa Nassuna, Viola Nambi respectively.
Phiona Nabumba presence was felt immediately as her long ball hit the woodwork.
On two occasions, Ikwaput was denied by Senegalese goalkeeper.
Sandra Nabweteme was brought in, for Shamirah Nalugya and this couldn’t change the score.
The victory takes Senegal to a top of group A with 3 points tied with hosts Morocco.
Crested Cranes next game will be against host nation, Morocco as Senegal will play Burkinafaso who also lost their opening game against Morocco (1-0).
