Crested Cranes beat Burundi to lift maiden Cecafa senior Women Championship.

Uganda Crested Cranes beat Burundi (3-1) women team on the final of Cecafa senior women Championship which was held at Njeru technical center to lift maiden title.

Sandra Nabwete drew the first blood for the.Crested Cranes as early as 2nd minute before Fazila Ikwaput doubling the lead with 1′ left to end first half.

Burundi reduced the lead through Joelle Bukuru who scored on 48th minute to make it 2-1.

Sandra Nabwete completed her brace on 90+1′ to seal title for George Lutalo coached side.

The final was graced by Rt.Hon Speaker of Parliament Anita Amongi.

Lady Doves goalkeeper, Daisy Nakaziro was named best Goalkeeper of the tournament as she conceded 2 goals only.

Meanwhile, Tanzanian goal poacher Opa Tukumbuke Clement took top scorer gong with 7 goals.

Fazila Ikwaput was named the Most Valuable Player as she scored in each of the games played in the tournament 6 goals in 5 games.

Tanzania Natoonal Women team took a fair play award.

Ethiopia finished 3rd after edging Tanzania (2-1) in the 3rd playoff.
