Uganda’s national football women team, the Crested Cranes fall short against Zambia to see exit at the ongoing Cosafa senior Women Championship in South Africa failing to go past group Stages.

Chonda Grace’s 37th minute strike was the only difference at final whistle as Zambia maximised all their group C games with wins, matching through to the semi finals of this year’s edition.

Going into this game, Uganda needed a result of not less than a win as they go through to the semi finals as group best runners up, with Malawi ahead of other second placed teams in other groups.

So, Malawi joins group winners  hosts South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania into the semi finals.

Zambia fininshed on top of group C as Uganda came second tied on points with Malawi.

Zambia and Uganda were playing for the second time in this competition, in 2018 Crested Cranes under coach Faridha Bulega beat them to win broze at their expense.

It Should be remembered that Zambia women  took part in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic games that took place in Japan despite their poor showpiece.
