Confirmed: Uganda Cup final returns to Northern Uganda

The final of the 2023 Uganda Cup will be played in the Northern part of the country, eleven years since the last one in the region.

The Akii-Bua Memorial Stadium will play host to the final, with URA FC against Vipers SC the last final to be played in the North, albeit, at the Pece Stadium, Gulu in 2012.

Then, URA were 1-0 winners over the Venoms, courtesy of former Uganda Cranes forward Robert Ssentongo’s goal.

The developments were confirmed by FUFA Competitions Director Aisha Nalule, during the Round of 64 draws on Tuesday at FUFA House in Mengo.

In the draw, defending champions BUL FC will face Mukono side Sparks FC, hoping to repeat the 2022 Masindi feat.

Last edition’s runners-up Vipers SC, will make a long trip to Hoima to face Bujumbura United SC.

Meanwhile, Uganda Premier League table leaders, KCCA FC will face fellow Kampala side KJT, hoping to hit the last 32 without too much fuss.

On the other side, Express FC and Villa SC will each make short trips to face Kajjansi United and Kireka FC respectively.
