Ugandan distance runner, Jacob Kiplimo put up a splendid performance to win Men’s 5000 meters over the night of Saturday, 6th August 2022 at Alexander stadium in the ongoing Common Wealth games taking place in England.
Kiplimo used 13:08.8 to beat Kenyan duo of Nicolas Kipkorit and Jacob Krop who managed siver and Bronze medals in time of 13:.08.19, 13:08.48 respectively.
The 21 year old Athelete becomes the third Ugandan to a double (winning 5000 and at10000) Common Wealth games after Moses Kipsiro (2010) and Joshua Cheptegei (2018).
Kiplimo wins his second gold medal at the ongoing event following the victory in 10000 meters.
And this is the fifth (5) medal for team ugUgan in Birmingham, adding to Kiplangat gold medal in Marathon, Teddy Nakimuli bronze medal in Boxing and Peruth’s bronze in 3000 meters.
