Cheptegei has written more history in Ugandan athletics in the recent past as we have seen him land back to the Pearl Of Africa with gold more than once and his latest victory being the world 5000 metre-record he broke at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco, France in July with a 12:35:36 finish.

On the other hand, Kiplimo has also made remarkable performance recently as he won the 5000 metres at the IAAF Golden spike meeting in Ostrava with a personal best of 12:48:63 then went ahead to triumph in the 3000m at the Diamond League meeting in Rome in a world-leading meeting.
The men’s wing of team Uganda comprises of Moses Kibet( world U20 country bronze medallist 2009), Stephen Kissa, Joshua Cheptegei, Abel Chebel, Jacob Kiplimo.
On the other hand, the women’s wing is under the leadership of national 10000m record holder Juliet Chekwel and others include; Doreen Chemutai, Doreen Chesang, and Rachael Zena Chebet.
