The draws for 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) were conducted on 26th May 2022 in Cairo and Uganda was given a bye in the preliminary round of the Qualifiers.
Uganda will play the winner between Tanzania and Somalia in the final qualifying round.
Uganda, Rwanda and Sudan are the only countries that got a bye in first round.
Uganda Cranes has participated in the last five editions of this tournament but failed to get out of the groups.
The first legs of first rounds will be played on dates of weekend of 22-23 July 2022 and 2nd legs on 29-31 July.
So the winner of the tie over two legs will play Uganda on dates of 26-28 August 2022 and return legs be played on 2-4 September and the winner on both legs will be play in the final tournament in Algeria early next year.
