Cameroonian forward, Choupo Motingi joins Bayern Munich.

The indomitable Lions captain, Eric Maxim Choupo Motingi joins German Bundesliga reigning  Champions Bayern Munich on a one year contract as a free agent.

“FC Bayern have signed Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The 31-year-old striker, who last played for Champions League finalists Paris Saint-Germain, has been handed a contract until 30 June 2021.” Bayern confirms on club website.

Choupo Motingi has been with French league one giant, Paris Germaine (PSG) since 2018, until the club noticed him in August this year that  his contract will not be renewed and set free.

The 31 year old striker who can as well operate on the leftwing is excited about the move and feels honoured playing for ‘The Bavarians’.

“It’s a great feeling coming back to the Bundesliga – and then to the biggest club in Germany. Who wouldn’t want to play for FC Bayern? It’s an honour to play for this club. It’s always Bayern’s aspiration to win everything, and I’m hugely motivated to help them achieve those goals.” Said Choupo Motingi after signing the contract.

Choupo Motingi is among the three players that Bayern Munich have unveiled on today 5th October 2020, Bouna Sarr from Olympic Marseille and return of Douglas Costa on loan from Juventus.

Born in Hamburg to Germany mother and Cameroonian father , Choupo-Moting returns to the Bundesliga after playing abroad in England (Stoke City, 2017/18 season) and the French capital (2018 – 2020). He took his first steps as a professional footballer with Hamburger SV, then had spells in the Bundesliga at 1. FC Nürnberg, FSV Mainz 05 and Schalke 04, before moving abroad. As a youngster, Choupo-Moting represented Germany at various youth levels but later opted to play for the Cameroon senior national team, for whom he has made 49 appearances and scored 14 goals.
