CAF CL: How Ugandan players performed on match day 3.

The Total CAF Champions League group stage games did continue over the weekend with matchday 3 and Uganda has got 6 of their players taking part with different clubs.

Half of Uganda’s ambassadors playing in the most prestigious CAF organized club competition got some playing time, two were unused substitutes and one didn’t make the matchday team sheet.

Uganda Cranes left back who is plying his trade with the Congolese giants T.P Mazembe, Joseph Ochaya was on the losing side against his compatriot and Captain on National team, Denis Onyango.

Ochaya featured for the whole game and assisted T. Mpuutu in the only goal scored by Mazembe whilst Denis Masinde Onyango was in between goal posts for the Masandawana.

The win takes Sundowns to 9 points and go top of group B, meanwhile Mazembe comes second place on 2 points tied with Al Hilal Omdurman together with Belouuzdad.



In the same group, Goalie Salim Jamal Magoola was unused substitute in Al Ahilal Omdurman draw 1-1 with Belouuzdad on Friday, 5th March 2021.

*AL Merrikh 0 – 0 Simba SC

Taddeo Lwanga played the entire game for Tanzania’s giants Simba SC when they picked a vital point off the Sudanese outfit to extend their lead on top of group A with to 7 points.

Meanwhile Said Kyeyune who had made a mega deal transfer to Al Merrikh from URA FC didnt make an 18 man squad for the team.

*Wydad Athletic Club 2 – 0 Horoya AC.

Uganda Cranes goalkeeper, Robert Odongkara was on bench as his club Horoya AC (Guninea) suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Moroccan Wydad Athletic in group C.

Wydad Athletic tops group C with 9 points while Horoya AC tied on 4 points with South African club Kaizer Chiefs and Senegalese Teungueth FC is at the bottom of the group with no point.
