Asaph Mwebaze vows to return back glory days at Mbale Heroes.

Two times Uganda cup champions, Mbale Heroes Football club has embarked on their journey to return to top flight league and have entrusted this project with Asaph Mwebaze who has done it before with several clubs.

Upon Mwebaze’s appointment, he has vowed to return back lost glory days at Eastern giants.

“This is a big club with a big history and am here to try to put the club where it is supposed to be. It’s been more than 15 years without topflight football and we are going to work very hard to return the club to greater heights.” Asaph told club media.

“We are dedicated as Coaches and staff to make sure we provide entertainment and also good results and we encourage the fans to come in big numbers. Let them bring their families so that whoever comes to Mbale has an experience to tell the rest of the world.” Continued.

The former Onduparaka and Maroons gaffer has as well revealed the reasons that attracted him to join the ‘Bakebi’.

“The leaders of the Mbale Heroes presented an ambitious project to me, which greatly intrigued me and influenced my decision to join the club. Their goal is to successfully elevate this team back to the topflight football.”

Mbale Heroes last played top flight football 16 years ago after being relagated to second tier league and several occasions have tried to return back but have failed.

They open the 2023/24 Betpawa Big league campaign against bitters rivals Kataka FC at Mbale Municipal stadium on 26th September, 2023.
